“Finding the Write Path” was an article about a student-athlete who was also a published author. The Creative Director and I realized that the story was incredibly interesting, but there would be no way that photos could justify the importance of the story. We had also worried that any photo would not have been entertaining enough for our audience. The director and I then decided to illustrate Bryan’s writing process through illustration. Both digital drawings were drawn from reference photos, but we were able to obtain a copy of Bryan’s handwriting and were able to use Photoshop to insert the poem into the illustration.
